2007 IFBB Ironman Pro Men's Bodybuilding Contest
is a Top Five Olympia Qualifier
November 2, 2006

  • The 2006 IFBB Pro Season is now over, and as usual, the first pro show of the 2007 year is the IFBB Ironman Pro, in Pasadena, California, on February 17th. This year, the contest marks the 18th year that it has been held, and again, it will be emceed by Lonnie Teper (that makes 18 times in a row). But what is really exciting this year is that the IFBB Committee has agreed that the Ironman Pro will be a top five Olympia qualifier, instead of just a top three. That means that the five top finishers at the Ironman qualify for the 2007 Olympia.

And just like every year, you never know who is going to show up in shape, from what country, and who will be the surprise of the show. Because it is the first show, and usually a four month period between the last IFBB pro show, it is one of my favorite shows. Coupled the show with the three day Fit Expo, seminars, and beautiful girls at the booths, and you have one exciting show.

Of course, for the last three years in a row, since they moved it to the city of Pasadena, where they play the Rose Bowl, it has rained, but that has not decreased the crowds. In fact, every year, more and more people come to the show and expo.

I also like the fact that they actually have a press conference for the pro bodybuilders here that day before, hosted by Lonnie Teper, in which they actually weigh in the competitors. Ok, they weight in with pants, boots, and rocks in their pants, but at least, you have an assumption on what they weigh, in is interesting to see.

So we will see you there next year, and don't forget to mark the date.
