On May 6-7, 2006, Thijs Althof, Aad Althof and Robbert-Jan van Heeckeren are going to attempt a try for the longest workout in the history of bodybuilding and fitness. They will atempt this record at Strada Sports in the town of Vorden, in the Netherlands. They will be training with dumbbells, barbells and cardio. They will try to attempt a record of 24 hours, but of course, will be going for more.

At the moment, this team is working with coach Leon Averdijk. The medical person who will monitor the attempt will be Melle Steringa. Also, Peter Bartels will control the logbook.

For each hour of training, they will have 5 minutes of rest. The NBBF will control the rules. They also get 5 minutes of extra time for injuries every 5 hours, and they must stay in the room / gym where they do the attempt, which all must be in the style of fitness / bodybuilding. Also, every hour there must be two adult people sign in the official record book (logbook) for every rule, the athletes do.

They are sponsored by a number a companies, including XXL-Nutrition, Bardolino, Sport-tietje, Horizon Sports, Panatta, Dalphin Sportdranken, Strada Sports Aannemersbedrijf Dostal B.V., Robbert's Sportfood, Restaurant Olde Lettink, Multimedia Productions, Sportfood.nl. Some of these are biggest names in the Holland bodybuilding scene.

On February 16th, we are going to have a trail run. We are going to train four 4-5 hours. So it will be good exercise to make sure they can do this . They are going to see how the body reacts during these long training sessions. Also, at the end of Februarym they have a photo shoot with Panatta in Nijverdal (Netherlands).

This is the first time in the sport of bodybuilding that there will be a record - no one else has tried to attempt a record! These athletes have been working on this attempt for more than a year, getting ready for it. With help from Julliette Bergman (Ms. Olympia 2001-2003 competitor) , as she is in the NBBF (Netherlands bodybuilding federation) , they will acknowledged the record. And we hope she will lobby us at the IFBB. So that we can speak of a world record when it occurs!
