FIGURE
The figure competition was great - I would not have wanted to be a judge
for this show. Many different structures and reminded us of how subjective
the judging can be. It simply comes down to a matter of preference. You
may agree or disagree but let's not loose sight that these women have
some of the best bodies in the world. They diet hard and give them credit
for even being on this Arnold Stage.
• Jenny Lynn - congrats on your victory!
Jenny looked great as she usually has on the pro stage. She didn't' appear
any different then previous shows but as the old saying goes, if it ain
't broke, don't fix it. The judges like her look and that's the standard
to what others are being held to. 3rd time in a row Jenny has taken home
the crown and I don't think Arnold knows her name. When it came to handing
out the award in the evening, it was like forgetting someone's name and
not knowing how to address them. Hey buddy, hey you, how does it feel
you winner girl you. haha - Arnold come on brah take the time to at least
know her name, she's won your show 3x now.
• Monica Brant looked amazing and clearly
came in softer than any other shows last year. She works with Kim Oddo
on her contest prep and it was obvious they did all the right things for
this show. Everyone I spoke with was very impressed with Monica's physique
and the look she presented. Again a matter of preference, many thought
this was Mo's show. With many of the same competitors competing in San
Fran we'll see how it plays out.
• Mary Elizabeth Lado - Hats off to
you girl, way to bring it to your first pro show. Mary has a very similar
structure to Jenny and carried herself with great poise. Many people were
quick to cry fowl at her height placing, however let's not forget she
is the reigning NPC National Figure Champion. She has a great physique
and look forward to seeing her compete at the Olympia. Welcome to the
pro ranks Mary - don't let the haters diminish your hard work.
• Christine Pomponio-Pate looked beautiful
as always. Her presentation is top notch and color is always on. She came
in slightly smoother and and a fuller body but it looked great. It's good
to see Christine consistent last year and carrying it over into 2005.
• Latisha wilder has an amazingly tiny
waist and great taper. She looked beautiful and carried herself well.
• Amber Littlejohn - she looked
good however appeared nervous in the 1 piece round and looked to smooth
out. I personally liked her look at this show better than the harder,
shredded look she had at the Olympia. She has the structure you either
love or hate. She improved upon last year's Arnold and thankfully there
wasn't any posing oil on the stage for the finals.
• Canada's own Jane Awad now living in New York made her debut
and carried herself very well. Give her a couple more shows and she will
be in the top 3-5.
• Elaine is stunning every time she steps on stage. Beautiful hair,
makeup and presentation. Her physique wasn't what it's shown it's capable
of but it's the first show of the year, she'll catch her stride.
The rest of the competition was either too hard, too soft or didn't look
to belong on the stage at all. I don't say this to be mean but one competitor
looked to have little or no muscle on her frame. She has great structure
but that's where it ends. Props for making the invite but please spend
the time to a) invest in a quality suit and b) work with someone on your
posing.
