doesn't matter. our creditors would starve to death if we cut them off, so they keep giving us money to spend to keep their people working, while salivating over their paper profits.

Let's take China, though I'm not huge fan of them and don't want them to become leading world power but it's inevitable.
There are over billion citizens in China. Over billion! Now they make products for western world and increasingly also import stuff from west.
Their buying power is growing constantly and more and more domestic demand occurs. In future China will be like USA in steroids - domestic demand driving economy - then they don't anymore rely so heavily on western demand.
Taking in consideration, China is major creditor of USA, it
will matter for USA. You're going to worm in front of China. Not saying it's a good thing at all as we don't know what kind of policy they will practice - as China is at the moment already economic giant but military-wise it still is far from superpower. That will change as everybody knows.
